ESWPA–EHRC Discussion: Remarks on Future Collaboration
ESWPA–EHRC Discussion: Remarks on Future Collaboration======================================Over the past two years, psychosocial support (PSS) and health services have largely been provided through the dedication and voluntary efforts of social work professionals through the referral system in cooperation with the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC). We recognize and appreciate the contributions of social work volunteers who have invested their time, skills, and commitment to supporting individuals in need.As we look ahead, there is a strong need to move beyond ad hoc support and strengthen institutional systems. One key priority is establishing a more structured and sustainable referral linkage mechanism between ESWPA, EHRC, and other relevant service providers. Strong referral pathways will help ensure that individuals receive timely, coordinated, and comprehensive support. We also see significant opportunities for long-term collaboration in capacity building, service coordination, advocacy, and professional development. Through continued partnership, we can contribute to building a stronger and more responsive social service system in Ethiopia.Looking to the future, ESWPA envisions a system where qualified social work professionals are formally deployed and integrated into service delivery structures, ensuring that psychosocial support and related social services are provided consistently, professionally, and sustainably. Ethiopian Social Work Professionals Association (ESWPA), would like to express our sincere appreciation to Hospital Social Workers for their commitment, support, and leadership in strengthening the collaboration between ESWPA and the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission. We remain committed to working closely with EHRC and other stakeholders to strengthen social work practice, protect human rights, and improve the well-being of vulnerable individuals and communities.Thank you Serkalem Bekele Zewdie and woinshet Habte for this commitment.ESWPA
